About the Event
Ransomware attacks are highly disruptive and involve increasingly higher ransoms. Dealing with ransomware threat actors involves critical decisions not just on whether to pay the ransom, but also preparing the organization for the possible consequences of non-payment, public disclosure, etc., as well as developing and implementing a post-breach plan. This webinar will:
1. Describe some of the ransomware attacks seen in the maritime and energy industries and highlight how they were the same/different from other industry verticals.
2. Discuss the U.S. Treasury Department Ransomware Advisory (issued 10/02/20) indicating that facilitating ransomware payments on behalf of victims may risk violating OFAC regulations. How has this changed things - or not? What other government rules may be forthcoming?
3. Some of the common mistakes at the onset of a ransomware attack that should be avoided.
4. Best practices to prepare for a ransomware attack.
